Enhance Your Yoga Class With Crystals

Updated: May 2, 2023

For millions of years, human beings have harnessed the power of Mother Nature by incorporating crystals into their everyday lives. Crystals can bring a new world of intentions, energies, and powers into your yoga practice. They’re not just exquisite pieces of jewelry, but also embody transformation and contain an abundance of healing powers. From creating positive change to unlock potential growth and transformation, to giving you protection and unconditional love – crystals and gemstones can help you to go deeper and enhance your yoga experience. Even if you don’t believe in the healing powers of crystals and gemstones, they can still be used as a symbol of your inner light and your hidden beauty. If you want to benefit from the powers of crystals, it is important that you choose the right stone for your

specific needs. As each crystal has different powers, you have to figure out which ones you should use when conducting your yoga practice. To help you, I made a list of my favorite crystals I love to take on the mat with me for a kick ass practice. Just place your crystals around your mat as you practice or on an altar. You can also carry them on you as well as meditate directly on one of your favorite gems.

1) Clear Quartz:

A clear quartz stone is thought to be a great healer and to support the energetic system. This

versatile healing stone amplifies the energy or intention of other stones and can be used to align all the chakras. If your mind tends to wander during your practice, clear quartz can help you maintain mental clarity and calmness. It will also help you practice more mindful meditations, which can be particularly useful during savasana. A little bonus about this stone is that it amplifies the energies of the other stones you use during your practice which in my book makes this a go to stone for me!

2) Fluorite:

Fluorite is a protective and stabilizing stone that is excellent for promoting grounding, focus,

concentration, and removing cluttered thoughts and negative thought patterns. This

harmonizing and balancing stone helps you overcome chaos, restlessness, and dissolve illusions.

3) Amethyst:

Amethyst is one of the best crystals for yoga due to its versatility. One of the most powerful

crystals available, amethyst possesses a very calming aura that can help you find peace during the course of your yoga practice. This calming stone also enables you to release any feelings of anger, resentment, or anxiety that may be clouding your mind. Releasing these feelings allows you to truly engage with the practice, which in turn allows you to find inner peace and balance much more easily.

4) Rose Quartz:

Rose quarts help us find love within ourselves as well as others. This makes this the perfect

crystal to use in your practice if you want to boost your self-love, connect with your true self and heal your negative energy towards yourself.

5) Citrine:

Citrine is the stone of abundance. Before you start your practice, you can set an intention, the

citrine crystal can help you achieve anything you are seeking, whether that is some calm and

inner peace or some mental clarity. Citrine has a powerful and energizing vibe that will help you focus and achieve your goals. As you move through your yoga practice, citrine will also provide you with a spark of energy and passion.

6) Moonstone:

Moonstone is a soft, feminine stone that increases intuition, promotes inspiration, success, and

good fortune. It helps you to unlock the energy of the Moon that resides within you, thereby

soothing emotional instability, stress, stabilizing the emotions, and providing calmness.

7) Hematite:

Hematite is a protective stone that activates the root chakra to help you stay grounded. It is

often used as a powerful talisman to absorb negative energy, boost concentration, reduce

stress, and worry, and enhance confidence and strength. If you are struggling with standing or

balancing poses, consider incorporating this stone in your practice.

8) Tiger’s Eye:

Tiger’s eye activates the solar plexus chakra to bring strength, power, confidence,

concentration, and courage to your practice. This stone is also known to be grounding and to

have great healing powers, especially for the digestive system.

9) Black Tourmaline:

Black tourmaline is known for activating the first chakra and is deeply rooted in the earth. As

such it is famous among healers and shamans for its protective, and grounding qualities. It heals physically, spiritually, and emotionally and repels lower harmful frequencies by creating an electrical force field around your aura. It will absorb negativity and transmute it into positive energy and bring better into your life. Black Tourmaline can help you to release self-doubt and anxiety and to become more stable and centered.

10) Obsidian:

Obsidian is thought to aid with the processing of emotions and experiences, as well as letting go. Obsidian is thought to be a very protective stone. It's supposed to protect against physical and emotional negativity, as well as remove emotional blockages. While encouraging the traits of strength, clarity, and compassion, and assisting you in discovering your actual self. This stone may also aid in the digestion of past experiences, emotions, and baggage, removing unwanted blocks. During a restorative practice or even a meditation session, this stone would be beneficial.

While yoga aligns your mind, body, and soul, crystals will release energetic blockages translating into physical and emotional barriers. So, by bringing gemstones and crystals to your practice next time, you can really improve your yoga practice and create a more powerful healing experience. Some of my favorite ways to use these crystals for yoga are by placing your crystals around the mat, creating an altar at the top of your mat so you can see them whilst you are holding poses, place them on your body during savasana, and even holding them in your hand while doing easy, seated poses. Play around and see what works best for you and your practice!
