Redefining Abundance and  Strengthening Connections

When you read or hear the word abundance, what's the first thing that comes to

heart? Imagine the difference between feeling abundance versus thinking about it.

Defining abundance has changed for me over the years. At present, the term

reminds me of resources. If your thoughts went to money, you'd be in good

company. I was there once (don’t be confused, I’m far from claiming material

wealth), but I'm thankful for another type of abundance now.

Over the years, curiosity or necessity have prompted me to explore a multitude of

subjects, spanning shamanism, Reiki, crystals, homeopathy, flower essences,

gardening, cooking, stained glass, leadership, and writing. With each invitation, I

invested in tools to support the development of a new skill.

The common thread that connects all my interests is the pursuit of healing,

intention, and community building. Most people long for authentic connections

because shared experiences remind us that we aren't the only ones who feel deeply,

are intuitive, and want to contribute to humanity and Earth Mother’s healing.

When you speak about connection, what comes to the top of your heart? In years

past, I might have thought about the networks I was involved in, but today, my

connection to Spirit, nature, the cosmos, and the ancestors provides the most

expansive sense of abundance.

Meditation, yoga, and spiritual practices are likely staples for most NEPA

contributors. For many, some kind of preparation is required for these practices.

Making time to get into your sacred space or on your mat at home, undisturbed, is

easier if you're single. Familial, business, or civic commitments can compete with

the time one dedicates to well-being. What's the alternative if your schedule leaves

minimal time for self-care as you prepare for festival season? Take off your shoes

and go outside. 10-15 minutes of walking or standing barefoot in the grass, sand, or

soil offers a tenfold return on your time when you set your intent accordingly.

When you connect to Earth Mother through your feet (or unclothed body parts),

you're nourishing your physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual body.

Let's come back to the festival theme of connection through abundance. Imagine

playing with an abundance of connectivity by setting your intent with each

grounding session. Five minutes can do wonders, even if that's all the time you

have. Here are some ideas to explore:

1. Envision the network of nerves in your feet connecting to the abundance of

roots under the soil (trees, flowers, shrubs, grass, etc).

2. Play with breathing through your feet. Connect with the rainforest or nearby

trees. Imagine drawing nutrients from the soil and sun as trees do.

3. For those near streams, rivers, lakes, or the ocean, imagine the synchronicity

between you and the water within your body. Pretend you can feel new

depths of sensation until it becomes second nature.

4. If it's windy, envision the connection between your breath and the movement

of nature.

5. If you want support for a specific chakra or organ, set your intent that Earth

Mother will cleanse and nurture that area.

Connecting to the highest vibration of abundance around you helps to settle the

chaos. It’s human to forget the incredible resources we have in times of stress.

There is so much support in nature, the cosmos, and your heart when you

remember how to tap in.

Here's to remembering the connections that help us feel whole, celebrating the

abundance surrounding us, and holding space for every one of Spirit's children to

feel nourished and supported.
